Resignation Letter
Write your resignation to your employer, with the notice under your contract or the probation rules and the last working day computed, as PDF or DOCX. Nothing you enter here is remembered.
Under Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021 an employee who resigns notifies the employer in writing. This tool writes that letter for you, the employee, addressed to your employer and signed by you: it states the notice that applies — the notice in your contract, or the probation rules — and your last working day, counted the same way as on the notice period calculator.
Which notice applies
After probation, the notice agreed in your contract, not less than 30 and not more than 90 days (Article 43(1)). During probation, if you are moving to another employer in the UAE, at least one month, which the tool counts as 30 days (Article 9(3), read with Article 67); if you are leaving the UAE, at least 14 days (Article 9(4)).
The last working day is the notice date plus the notice days: notice given on 1 April with 30 days ends on 1 May. Leaving without giving the notice has a price: the party that does not give it owes the other the wage for the notice period or the part not given (Articles 9(5) and 43(3)).
What the letter says
The letter gives written notice of your resignation from your position, states the date, the notice period and your last working day, and prints the reason you type, if any, word for word. It offers an orderly handover and asks for your wages and other entitlements within 14 days of the end of employment (Article 53) and an experience certificate (Article 13(11)).
If you want to leave earlier, the letter can ask your employer to waive or shorten the notice by mutual agreement, as Article 43(2) allows for the contract notice. It asks; it does not decide — until your employer agrees in writing, the letter keeps the full notice.
