Resignation Acceptance Letter
Accept an employee’s resignation and relieve them on the last working day, computed from the notice or agreed earlier, on your letterhead as PDF or DOCX.
When an employee resigns, the employer usually confirms in writing that the resignation is accepted and when the employee is relieved of duties. This tool produces that letter on your letterhead, with the last working day computed from the notice the employee must give, or an earlier day agreed between you.
What the letter states
The letter acknowledges the resignation and the date it was received, confirms acceptance, states the notice period and the last working day, and relieves the employee of duties at the close of business on that day. An optional handover line is printed exactly as you type it. It closes by stating that final dues will be settled under Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021 and paid within 14 days of the end of employment (Article 53).
Which notice applies
After probation, the notice agreed in the contract, between 30 and 90 days (Article 43(1)). During probation, an employee moving to another employer in the UAE gives at least one month, which Article 67 counts as 30 days (Article 9(3)); one leaving the UAE gives at least 14 days (Article 9(4)).
Article 43(2) allows the parties to agree to waive the notice or shorten it. Enter the agreed last working day and the letter states it as agreed.
What it does not say
It carries no statement of no objection to joining another employer; if the employee needs one, generate a NOC letter. Article 13(11) requires the employer to give an experience certificate on request, free of charge, and that letter is in this tool too.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does UAE law require a resignation acceptance letter?
The Decree-Law requires the notice to be given in writing (Article 43(1)); it does not prescribe an acceptance letter. Employers issue one to record the last working day and the relief from duties.
Can the notice period be waived?
By agreement, yes. Article 43(2) says it “may be agreed upon exemption from the notice period condition or reducing its period while preserving all the rights of the worker”. Enter the agreed last working day and the letter states it as agreed.
